When we finished writing Security in a Web 2.0+ World and then received the text of the Forward from Dan Geer I remember reading it over and over again thinking what s brilliant piece he had written. “The reason is structural”, were his words. And one cannot win in a contest if the structure is stacked for the opposition. This is what it feels like today in the contest of cyber defense and attack. “They are few, but they are winning, and the reason is structural.” To win, we will need to get more serious – change the structure or we will be destined to ever greater consequences from this failure. This book is about getting more serious, about changing the structure.
